Clinical Excellence in Behavioral Care

Khalled Ismail is a clinical therapist specializing in evidence-based behavioral interventions for Michigan and Illinois residents. An honors graduate of the University of Michigan, Khalled’s clinical foundation is rooted in high-rigor training, yet he believes that the person precedes the protocol. While he specializes in a multitude of therapeutic modalities, he views these as flexible tools tailored to the individual. He ensures that a client’s unique lived experience is never overshadowed by a diagnosis. Khalled is devoted to helping patients translate clinical insights into tangible daily stability.

The TIIP Framework: Bridging Science and Faith

Khalled utilizes the Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (TIIP) ontological framework, a holistic map of the human psyche where the Qalb (metaphysical heart) sits at the center of health and pathology. By addressing the four surrounding faculties—ʿAql (cognition), Nafs (behavioral drives), Rūḥ (spirit), and Iḥsās (emotions), he helps clients achieve I’tidal (psychospiritual equilibrium).

By bridging modern psychological evidence with culturally grounded frameworks, Khalled ensures that therapy is not just a clinical intervention, but a holistic experience that honors the full identity of the individual.

A Background in High-Stakes Case Management

Khalled’s understanding of human behavior was forged in the high-stakes world of the justice system. Before joining Amana Behavioral Health, he served as a Probation Officer and Residential Officer, where he managed complex caseloads and performed high-level behavioral risk assessments.

This background in Forensic Social Work" gives Khalled a unique edge in Case Formulation. He is an expert at identifying the systemic drivers of stress and behavior, making him an invaluable partner for patients navigating high-pressure careers, complex family dynamics, or significant life transitions. His current experience as a University of Michigan Research Assistant further reflects the academic rigor he brings to every session continuing to dedicate his time to social justice and equity.
